The biggest thing AAA games lack is imagination. They are ALL so incredibly uninspired and sterile. You can tell the people who make them hate what they do.

I'm on the younger end, having been born in 1999 and my childhood was during the 2000s and 2010s. The first generation I really grew up with myself was the 7th Gen (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii), but I sorta grew up second-handedly with the sixth gen consoles because they were around whenever I went to day care or summer camp as a kid. Most day cares/summer camp programs had at least all three of the PS2, GameCube and Xbox in a "game room" and whenever I was allowed I would always gravitate to playing at least one of them every day. The games on all three were so fun and I never got bored of any of the three, I can see why it's known as a golden era of gaming, even if I didn't properly grow up with this console set, I've experienced the game library thanks to many camps and day cares still having them around even during my elementary school days in the late 2000s. And the overall library between the four sixth gen consoles was so good that it basically hooked me into games for life. Granted looking at it older console gens seem really short compared to the ones I grew up with (the newer ones). Back in my childhood the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii were the new stuff on the market and stayed around for a long time, with the previous consoles staying mildly relevant alongside them, and the Wii U/PS4/Xbox One was the first "new generation debut/transition" I truly experienced, and that was towards the end of my middle school days and the beginning of my high school ones haha, and that lasted a good while before the current Switch/PS5/Xbox Series X era.

Something important to note for those who want to try emulating Neo Geo titles but don't like piracy: The official PC releases for most Neo Geo titles (I'm talking about the standalone game releases you see on sites like GOG) contain completely unaltered and fully useable MAME ROMs in the game files. These ROMs can be easily loaded into the emulator of your choice on any device that supports a version of MAME/FBNeo/etc, allowing you to play them anywhere you want (and with a generally better experience than the lackluster emulator the come officially bundled with).

Would you suggest if you’re in the middle of a game but finding it a bit of a chore to get through to stick it out and finish it or move onto another game? My gaming strategy has been to play 2 games for 2-3 hrs and split the time 50/50 between both. I have a big back log.

Man I hear you dude I say it all the time that games are two much a like there are to much the same same so yes I am a retro gamer but I also play new stuff but I don't do it cause being forced to I play because the games they make today are so different that I like playing some of everything that way don't get bored of same stuff and because I like the way some of the old are you just don"t get that type of feeling from some of the newer stuff but I go for what I think looks good to play and if I enjoy it that's all that matters to me!

I agree to an extent. These days though, marketing happens much more organically than it used to. Following the right RUclipsr can unlock a whole echelon of great stuff you'd never see an ad for. But there's also a lot of groupthink that turns 'hidden gem' lists into more of the same. So you do have to always be looking to find the REALLY good stuff!

Goonies 2 on the NES. Rented it excited that their was going to be movie sequel soon to follow! The game was horrible where you had wizards now for some reason? i remember wondering where are the pirates? Other friends didn't believe me there was going to be a movie sequel, so I had to rent it for them as well. i rented this bad game so many times i became really good at it & now i own the game. Probably paid twice for it for as much as i rented it. Spoiler Alert there was never a Movie Sequel to Goonies just a game sequel.

The reason why the gaming industry is not that popular today is because the game companies are doing what they want rather than what the people want, in most cases. If we count out the remasters of course which alot of people want, besides that, they rarely ever make something new, like a new franchise with totally new characters because it's something that is way about their head and might require alot of resources and thought, which many game studios today don't have, the ability to innovate and create things that are compelling to the players, they think they got a great idea but when it's on display and game testing occurs, they all fall flat and they have to lie to their quality assurance that the game is great and ready for release just to not get fired in many cases. This is the reality of todays gaming industry where everyone just cares about money and the products, the games in this case result in very poor reception and the games quality often is not up to expectation by the player base, the masses and all the players in general are looking for a game that is interesting and fun to play, who ever manages to fill that criteria often wins in almost every scenario, so hopefully the gaming industry can learn from the past success of the 2000s millenium and take learning courses from that era and bring that forward in modern times, if they even can, lol.

Its a tie they both were extremely flawed systems. For me they were both the one-two punch that made me not have Nintendo as my primary source for games. However I will say the Wii is better than both as it is both and its own thing.

AAA games used to be good, but now they're just £££: £ - too bloody expensive for what we get. £ - game sizes are laughably big, to the point consoles have their own brand of external HDD/SSDs to compensate. £ - they're all so much alike in mechanics and gameplay, and requiring a lifetime and a half of hours to see the "true ending" that they're practically modded versions of the last big game with sprite and texture swaps, with half the sound effects and music being reused. Once my Xbox pulls a T2 ending thanks to a Microsoft update that's stopped it from updating so it can't be used online anymore, I'm switching to my Retroid Pocket 3 Plus, Pop_OS and buying a Blu-ray player because that's what I mostly use console for. 🤘🏻 💀🕛 🤘🏻
